Ric Flair Deletes Tweet About Jim Ross After Backlash
Wrestling icon Ric Flair faced criticism this weekend after posting a controversial tweet aimed at fellow WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross, who is currently battling colon cancer. The comment was quickly deleted after backlash from fans.

Jim Ross Shares Cancer Diagnosis and Surgery Success

Jim Ross recently announced his colon cancer diagnosis and confirmed that his surgery was successful. He is currently in recovery and undergoing rehabilitation, sharing updates with fans on social media.

Flair’s Tweet Triggers Backlash

On Saturday, Ric Flair posted a message on Twitter/X that many interpreted as dismissive. He wrote,

“Jim Ross Will Always Be Jim Ross, Seeking Attention. Focus On Your Recovery @JRsBBQ!”

The tweet was deleted after receiving backlash, with many criticizing Flair’s tone. He later stated that the post was meant to be a joke.

Flair Responds with Clarification

The following day, Flair issued a longer statement expressing his respect for Ross and emphasizing that there was no ill intent behind his comment. He referenced an upcoming article in Sports Illustrated in which he praises Ross as one of the greatest commentators of all time.

“Jim Ross is on my Mount Rushmore, along with Gordon Solie, Gene Okerlund, and Jerry Lawler,” Flair wrote. “Nobody should be upset because two people have a difference of opinion. It happens in life!”

Flair also mentioned the personal struggles they’ve both faced—losing loved ones and being seen as the best in their fields—as a reason to move forward.

Reactions Remain Mixed

While some fans accepted Flair’s explanation and applauded his tribute to Ross, others remained critical of the initial tweet. The situation has sparked renewed conversation about respect, timing, and tone on social media—especially when serious health issues are involved.
