Kangana Ranaut Deletes Trump Tweet After BJP Pushback
Kangana Ranaut, BJP MP from Mandi, found herself at the center of political controversy after posting – and quickly deleting – a tweet criticizing US President Donald Trump on May 15. The post, which was also shared to Instagram, was removed after intervention by BJP national president JP Nadda.

What Did Kangana’s Deleted Tweet Say?

Though the tweet is no longer visible, viral screenshots suggest that Kangana expressed frustration over Trump’s remarks urging Apple CEO Tim Cook to scale back manufacturing in India, instead focusing on American production. Some users claimed she drew an unfavorable comparison between Trump and PM Narendra Modi, even calling Trump “inferior.”

Reportedly, her deleted tweet included pointed questions such as:

“What could be the reason for this love loss? Is this personal jealousy or diplomatic insecurity?”

The remarks came shortly after Trump made his comments at a business event in Doha, criticizing India’s high tariffs and urging Apple to “build America, not India.”

BJP Intervenes, Kangana Retracts

Kangana later posted on X (formerly Twitter), explaining that she was instructed to remove the post:

“JP Nadda ji called and asked me to delete the tweet I had posted regarding Trump asking Apple CEO Tim Cook not to manufacture in India. I regret posting that very personal opinion of mine, as per instructions, I immediately deleted it from Instagram as well.”

The tweet came at a politically sensitive moment, with the BJP already managing backlash from another senior leader’s controversial comments. Party leadership reportedly feared diplomatic ramifications from Kangana’s public criticism of a sitting U.S. president.

Why It Matters

Kangana’s post touched a nerve because it coincided with India’s efforts to position itself as a global manufacturing hub, especially for companies like Apple looking to shift operations out of China.

Trump’s comments were seen as a direct challenge to India’s “Make in India” initiative – something the BJP is keen to defend.

This incident once again highlights the fine line celebrities-turned-politicians walk on social media, especially when personal opinions can have geopolitical consequences.
