Elon Musk Changes Name to ‘Gorklon Rust’ on X

Elon Musk Changes Name to ‘Gorklon Rust’ on X
Elon Musk is now going by “Gorklon Rust” on X, the platform he owns. While many users were confused at first, the bizarre new name is actually a nod to a viral parody account on the site – and, predictably, it’s already affecting crypto markets.

The name change came after Musk interacted with @gork, a comedic account parodying Grok, the AI chatbot developed by Musk’s own company xAI. The exchange kicked off on May 4, when Musk tagged @gork, revealing he had updated his profile picture to mimic @gork’s—sunglasses and all—and cheekily asked for feedback.

@gork, staying in character, responded with memes and mild alarm: “Bro we twinning now I guess. Kinda creepy tho ngl.”

Who Is @gork?

@gork is a meme-heavy parody account designed to impersonate Grok with absurd, sarcastic humor. Even Grok itself chimed in, calling @gork a “viral parody account” that’s both “witty” and “edgy.” The interaction highlights Musk’s ongoing appreciation for irreverent online culture, especially when it involves his own creations.

Crypto Coin Goes Wild

As news of Musk’s name change spread, the price of a memecoin named after @gork spiked. According to BeinCrypto, the coin – created in 2023 – briefly surged in popularity, though it still trades below its all-time high of one cent. Speculation mounted about whether Musk might hold a stake in the coin or was simply fueling the hype for fun.

The situation mirrors other meme-driven surges linked to Musk, who has previously boosted assets like Dogecoin and Floki Inu with single tweets or emoji-laden posts.

Whether or not “Gorklon Rust” is here to stay, one thing’s certain: Musk’s fascination with satire, crypto, and identity play is far from over.

For users caught in the whirlwind of Musk’s rebrands, parody feuds, and meme chaos, it’s always a good idea to clean up your social trail. Tools like
