Blake Griffin Says Dunk Made Kendrick Perkins Delete Twitter

“That Should Be on My Résumé,” Griffin Jokes

Imagine dunking on someone so hard they vanish from social media. That’s exactly what Blake Griffin claims happened after his posterizing slam over Kendrick Perkins.

Appearing on The Adam Friedland Show podcast, Griffin recalled the infamous moment, saying:

“Kendrick Perkins deleted his Twitter after I dunked on him. That’s like—I think that should be on my résumé.”

The hosts joked about hypothetical scenarios, asking if Griffin ever felt bad for dunking on someone. He didn’t. Even when Friedland asked, “What if his mom just died or something?” Griffin replied, “Well, that’s sad, yeah, but I don’t feel bad for the dunk.”

Perkins Really Did Delete His Twitter

This isn’t just a tall tale. Back in 2012, NBC Sports reported that Perkins shut down his Twitter account, citing “too much negativity.” But many fans speculated the real reason was Griffin’s jaw-dropping dunk that year—a play that still circulates on highlight reels.

To be fair, taking a dunk like that in front of millions as a pro athlete stings a little more than your average pick-up game humiliation.

Social Media Meltdown or Smart Move?

While Griffin frames it as a career highlight, others see it as a reminder of how brutal NBA fandom can get online. Deleting Twitter may have been Perkins’ way of escaping the relentless memes and taunts.

Still, Griffin’s casual quip—“That should be on my résumé”—ensures the story keeps living rent-free in NBA culture.
